ANWL'AE SPORTS. The North Taranaki Cilcdonian Society were favored with perfect weather for their third annual gathering held on (he Camp liescrvo a! Wailarn on Thursday. Public n.ilronage was very satisfactory, close'on CHI being taken at Ihe gales. The running Igciicrallv seemed lobe genuine, some splendid finishes being witnessed, and in several of the events the limes were very good. A special vigilance rumlnitlco was set up lo watch for " still' 'uns," and this, combined with good 'handicapping, was responsible for a number of hard races. The committee and judges worked energetically throughout the day, and all the events were got off well up to time. The result steward, Mr W. H. Xosworthy, and the Secretary, Mr 11. Spurdle, were very obliging in supplying information to the press representatives. The handicapping of Mr Ulie Shannon was the subject of favorable comment. Highland events were an attractive feature of the gathering, there being fifteen pipers present, besides a number of dancing ' kilties,' including about ten juveniles. The Taranaki pipe hand was fairly well represented and played a number of stirring marches during the day. Results :

In the lirst go Tikorangi heat Wailara No. 1 in the first two pulls. The Native team pulled Waitara No, 2 in their first go, but were rather easily settled in the two subsequent pulls. The liual between Waitara and Tikorangi proved an exciting contest, Wailara winning. The winning team comprised Luieridee Pallndge, Clare (2), Taylor (2), Samson, Frost, Johnstone, and Kettle.
