The Federal Government «as prepared to submit a Bill next session to ask Parliament for a vote for liberal subsidies to advertise Australia, and to bring out suitable immigrants at. cheap |fares, thus competing with Canada. The Government was also preparing a scheme of bounties to cucourage new products, and the States would thus be inspirited to advance to Hip conquest of the great interior which at present was unoccupied. It was a great national question. He made the States a practical offer, hoping it would lead to practical business
