FEDERAL MAIL SERVICE.

NEW TENDERS PREPARED. Pcceived 31, 10 p.m. MiiLuoi'iiNK, January 31. The Federal Cabinet considered tenders, which close on May 31 si, for a new European mail contract to be purely postal. The carriage of produce or other matters thought advisable in connection with the service will be considered independently. The terminal ports are Naples or Brindisi and Adelaide. The service is to be fortnightly and the speed not less than fifteen knots. The contract will be optional for seven or ten years, and the white labor stipulation is unaltered. It is also stipulated that the Government may at anytime during the contract purchase or charter any mail steamer.
