While riding at the Matatoki raeos, Alfred Maxwell, soil of a settler, was thrown through his mount falling. He sustained concussion of the brain, aud lies in the Thames Hospital in a critiI'itl condition. CnlUsTciirncji, January :io. j An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Michael Duudon, who, while working at Glcninore brickworks on Monday, was killed by a fall of clay. A verdict was relumed that death was accidental. A rider was added to the effect that when a section of clay was being loosened a man should be on top of ihe face to report any weakening or tendency to open out, for the protection of those working below.
