' A SUDDEN, PEACEFUL END. Loxuox, .January 211. Obituary: Tke King of Denmark. UNIVERSAL REGRET. Received 30, 12.9 a.m. Copenhagen, January 30. The King of Denmark held kis usual audience in the morning, when ke appeared ekeerful. Early in the afternoon ke became iw'imposed, and retired to kis room. His daughter, the Princess Marie Feodorona, suddenly saw that he was dying, and summoned ker mother and relatives, and two pkysiciaus. The end was peaceful, the symptoms being those of heart failure. Universal regret is expressed over Europe, [and many condolences have been received. KING FREDERICK YIII. Received SI, 1.29 a.m. Cofexhagex, January 30. Tke Crown Prince Frederick was proclaimed King to-day under the title of King Frederick the Eighth. ROYAL SYMPATHY. Received 30, 11. tii p.m. London, January 30. A Court Circular expresses Kiug Edward's and Queen Alexandra's great grief at the death of til's Iviug of Denmark. [King Christian IX. was born April Bth, 1818. He wis a son of the late Duke William of Schlcswig-Holstcin-Sonderbnrg-Glueksburg, and father of Quoen Alex in tra of England, of the Dowager Empress of Russia, and of the King of Greece; and grandfather of the King of Norway. He was a K.G., G.C.8., Jand a general of the British Army. He married iu IS 12 the Princess Louise, daughter of the Landgrave of Hes»e C.issell; the Q.ueen died in 1898. King Christian's successor is Prince Frederick, born in 1813, and married in 18!i9 to Princess Louisadaughter of King Karl XV. of Sweden and Norway. The late King was a wise ruler and a very popular potentate.]
