CANTEKBUIIY- AND NOHTH OTAGO. PKlt MESS ASSOCIATION CiißisTCHuiicn, January 20. Police returns for 1905 for Canterbury and North Otago district show the total number of offences reported 3560, as against 3913 for the preceding year. The total number of persons apprehended and summoned was 3138. There Mere decreases for all of the most serious offences and for drunkenness, in which the number of offences reported was 1537, as against 188!) during 1001.
