We saw the local butchers hailed wilh the promise that I lie expenses of icilling would be materially reduced by reason of the saving that w mid be effected over the same metal; I hat the metal got from the properly would be placed as a setoff to the cost of killing in the abattoir account. The machinery is there, the stone is there j the abattoirs are there, costing the butchers about 25 per cent, more than they slaughter for —and now the Council are going to get their metal from Mount Egmont! Our Borough Council in their enterprise and extravagance have piled the rates up, until before long the place will be as costly to live in a.s a huge city, It's about time they cried " Haltl am, etc.,
