WALTHAM ORPHANAGE INQUIRY.

PEE TBESS ASSOCIATION. CitaisTCHOEcn, January 16. The Waltham Orphanage inquiry was continued to-day. Evidence was given by Miss McArthnr, assistant at tho Orphanage, to the effect that the children were seldom punished by the strap. The dry bread punishment was seldom used, and then only for one meal. She had not held any of the children down while they were being punished, and never hoard the matron uso bad language. She had made dresses for tho two Andrew children and they had not complained about them. Other witnesses stated the children were well looked after and were happy and comfortable. The inquiry will be resumed on Thursday.
