ALIEN IMMIGRATION.
AUSTRALIA AND THE LANGUAGE TEST. I Peiith, January 6. A deputation of Federal and State Labour parties waited on Senator Harford and urged the application of the language test to Italians. The. deputafion said that large numbers of Italinns were finding their ray to the goldficlds, it was believed under contract.
Senator Play ford said the deputation had made out a prima facie case, though he did not sec how they could prove that the men were imported under contract. Ho would bring the matter under the notice of the Gorernment.
