BURNSIDE CATTLE MARKET. TEE MESS ASSOCIATION. Dl'nkdi.V, JAN. 1. At the Burnside market 108 head of fat cattle were yarded, a fair proportion being good to prime. The market opened easier, and as the sale proceeded prices showed a considerable idi'op, anything but prime being unsaleable at the close. Best bullocks were selling at from £9 10s to £lO 10s, extra prima £ll 7s fid, medium to good £7 10s to £8 Ills, best heifers £0 to £7 10s, extra £8 ss, others £4 10s to £5 10s, Fourteen hundred fat sheep were penned. As Ihe sale {progressed a weakening tendency showed itself, and [at the close prices were dowu from Is to Is fid per head. Best (wether# 18s to 21s 9d, extra to 245, good 16s to 17s !!d ; best ewes los to 18s, others 12s to l is fid. Fat Lambs.—42o penned. There was a very irregular market throughout, and prices showed a drop of from 2s Cd to 3s per head. Best lambs 13s to los Dd, extras up to lfis 3d, good from 10s to 12s fid. Pigs.—7B2 yarded. There was a good sale for all sorts. Suckers 9s to los, slips 16s to 18s, stores 19s to 235, porkers 2fis to 365; light baconers 38s to 41s, heavy baconers 45s to 48s, choppers to 535.
