THEKAPITI ASHORE.

PATEA BUTTEE FOlf MOTUEOA. THE VESSEL NOT IX DANGEIi.. Mr F. P. Corkill, Lloyd's agent for Taranaki, returned fromPatea by the express train. He states that the s.s. Kapiti is beached just outside the river bar, riding on an even keel. She is workable only at low tides, owing to a very heavy sea running. On Tuesday about a quarter of the cargo of 4500 boxes of butter had been landed, and was being conveyed back to the Freezing Works at Patea. The cargo is very littlo damaged. A special train runs from Hawera each evening to bring the beached butter back to the refrigerator. It is expected that this work will take three or four days. Owing to want of space the Patea Works will send three thousand boxes of butter to Moturoa to be shipped from New Plymouth by the Botoiti on Thursday. Those acquainted with the nature of tho beach arc of opinion that the steamer will not suffer much injury unless the seas increase. On Tuesday afternoon the vessel signalled the shore for a doctor, the captain being unwell. No further particulars are available.
