NEW ZEALAND AXEMEN'S ASSOCIATION.

CHAMPIONSHIP CARNIVAL. MOKE WORLD'S RECORDS BROKEN. Second Day. (By our Special Reporter). There was a good crowd present at the second day's proceedings of the New Zealand Axemen's Association's Carnival yesterday.

It rained for some time before noon, but the weather afterwards cleared up. There were some good (ields, and, as was the case yesterday, some splendid times were registered, as will be seen from details.

Great interest was centred in the Contest Challenge between Casey and Pretty and Carson and Mcintosh In the first go the finish was a dead heat, in 18 1-s'sec.

In the second essay, the lnvevcargill nien won by a fraction of a second, in 17 3-5 sees. Casey and Pretty put in a very bad cut, and almost ran out of timber. The match was in 22in logs, for £SO a side.
