NARROW ESCAPE OF THE VICTIM. PEE MESS ASSOCIATION. CitKisTeHunni, December 25. A serious assault occurred in His Lordship's Hotel on Saturday night. A man named George Jones Pendergast went into the bar, accosted another man named William Williams, and asked him to shout. Williams refused, and Pendergast thereupon went outside for the alleged purpose of sharpening his knife on a block of concrete. He re-entered the bar, went up to Williams and stabbed him iu the region of the heart, the blade penetratiug lus clothing, and striking a rib, but it glanced off, otherwise it would have pierced the heart. Pendergast was arrested and charged with wounding with intent.
