ArrcKMND, December 21, A coloured man, named William Scarbro, pleaded not guilty at the Police Court this morning to iv phargc of assaulting Edith '['ho young lady was going- Jo. hor. work across the Surroy- Hills, and on her way had to oross a small bridge over a creek. Accused was in the vicinity and when she got on the bridgo he oaught her by the shoulders and ilung her into tho water. He did not sa7 a word and Miss flinns could not ascribe no rea. son for assault. Accused attempted to prove an alibi, but his Worship did not think that the evidence of identification could be mistaken. Detective Mars,ick rend a long list of previous convictions which j showed that some time ago Scarbro committed a similar offence.
