The Orphan Hornet Parnell, Auckland. APPEAL. The disastrous fire that occurred at the Orphan Home, Farnoll, Auckland on Sunday, September 17, will b fresh in the minds of the readers o this paper. This appeal is intended to make plain the extent of the loss, its efi feet upon the present condition of, tho children, and the urgent necessit for Funds to provide adequately an wisely for their future welfare. Children from the districts wher this paper circulates have from tim to time been cared for in the Home which has, therefore, a particular a well ai a general claim upon you sympathies. LOSS. Th'« two Main Dormitories are ab solutely destroyed, that is, the sleeping accommodation of over 70 children. In addition, the Matron's Quarters, Staff Diningroom, Sewing room, Seamstress' Bedroom and Ho& pital aro totally destroyed, and, besides this, a considerable quantity 01 Clothing and Furniture has been lost What this means to the children an to the matron and her staff can hardly be conveyed by mere words. 2.—NEW BUILDINGS. The matter of providing New Build ings has been receiving tho carefu consideration of the Board, as ap pears by tho last two annual re ports, and a New Buildings Fun has been created. In "providing permanent accommod ation, tho safety of the children is consideration of paramount import ance, and this can only be secured i Buildings of Stone or Brick. 3.—THE COST. Of such Buildings on modern lines i roughly estimated at from £SOOO t £7OOO, in addition to which it ma be necessary to purchase land. 4.-THE FINANCIAL POSITION.

Tho income fror taining tho 89 children iu the Home The numbers have increased si»-<i 31st March, 1905, by 28, and for th current year, owing to such increase the Hoard anticipates a debit balanc of expenditure over receipts. Thi will, of course, be increased by th expenses inevitably attendant upo tho fire. ..To take P"» rnnsirlerftli) sum from the Capi purposes would very seriously hawp & the work of the Home, and prcju dice the well-being •of the children. THE APrEAL OF THE CHILDUEI I For the sake of the good work done in past years, for the sake o the larger work to bo done now an in the years to come, and above all in the name of Christ, for the sak !of His little cues, wo appeal for help.
