The Board of Governors of Canterbury College decided, on Tuesday, to appoint Mr K. Merdnmn Smith, F.S.A., 11 .A., Ii.C.A. (London), as Director of the School of Art, at a salary of £SOO per annum without residence or fees. Mr J. Wade, Chairman of tho Education Board, was absent from tho meeting last night on account of tho serious illness of Mrs Wade, who has been in failing health for some time. Mr B. L.
