FOUNDATION STON'E LAID.

SPEECH BY THE PREMIER, I'EB MESS ASSOCIATION. CIIHISTCIIUIiCII, Dec, 18. The Premier, accompanied by Sir Joseph Ward, tho Hons. J. Carroll, C. H. Mills, and T. Y. Duncan, laid the foundation stone of the exhibition buildings to-day. There, was a large attendance, and the weather was excellent.

The Premier said the exhibition would be opened in November next year, and close in Easter week 1907, The vote for buildings as at first provided would not prove adequate, but he was sure the Colony would not hesitate to grant additional aid. He again promised that au organ costing several thousands should be presented to the city if they found suitable accommodation for it.
