EGMONT NATIONAL PARK ROAD.
The above Board held a mectiTlg at the North Egmont House on Thursday, the 11th December. There were present, Messrs Simpson, Collis, Dingle, King, Wrigley, Hill, and Wilkie. The party left New Plymouth by brake at about 7.10 a.m. and arrived at. the House about 11 a.m., inspecting en route the pit being opened up for metalling the road.
A heavy burst of raiu when approaching "Egmont Village somewhat damped tlie party, but otherwise the trip was an excellent one as regards weather, while the track to the House was, with a few exceptions, in good order.
On n-riying at the House the Board held a meeting to discuss various questions affecting the lieserve, and after inspecting the Houses and tracks, returned to New Plymouth early in the evening. Before so doing, Messrs Wrigley (Hawera), and King (Stratford) as representatives of the southern part of the Taraoaki District, made eulogistic references to the capable manner in which the Caretaker and his wife kept the House and Cottage; also to the excellence of the walking track, particularly above the House, carried out by the North Committee on behalf of the Board,
Being a clear day the outlook was excellent, the surf breaking on the small seal rocks, New Plymouth, being clearly visible, while all the towns down to Stratford could bo readily raced.
