SALE OF WORK.
The sale of work in the South lioad Methodist Church was opened yesterday afternoon by His Worship the Mayor of New Plymouth. The attendance was fairly large. The ltev. Williams briefly introduced the Mayor and Mayoress and explained that the efFort liad for its object the raising of funds (or repainting and renovating the interior of the Church buildings. On concluding a felicitous speech, the, speaker declared the bazaar open. Tlie stalls were very prettily arranged, and the appearance of the building was transformed by a profusion of llowers and decorations, the result- of laborious work o[ the members of the Church. Good business was done in the afternoon, the many dainty articles exhibited for sale being irresistible to the lair sex. The stall holders were : Fancv (ioods—Mesdanies Williams, Morshead, McWhinncy, and Miss Howell. Sweet Stall—Mrs Potts nnd Miss F. M. Dixon. Flower Stall—Misses T. Dixon. Morsheul, MeWhinncT, L. Howell and Shirley. Produce Stalls—Mesdamcs Me,lssues ami Burgess. Christmas Tree —Mrs Yates, Misses I. liussell and I. Gilbert. Dolls—Mrs Green, Misses E. ilrokcnstill, Slookcr and Patterson. liefreshmcnU Mcsdames Crozicr, Hooker, Gilbert, Shirlcv, While and Miss Di'okenstill. 11l the evening there w.u a large attendance. a gymnastic display ami an exhibition of dumbell swinging bv Mr Lints and party being given and was an appreciative item.
This evening the bazaar will be continned, and various compel it ions for both sexes will be held. The programme should fir most interesting.
