AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. lhe inquest touching the death of Mr» Margaret Amelia Higgins, who was burned to death id the recent fire at " Lynnholme " private hospital was ceDeluded to-day. In the course of his summing up the Coroner sai<l they had to deal with the question of whether it was advisable to allow a nursing home or private hospital to be conducted in a building (1) not of brick, and (2) having two storeys. It was quite within their province to ask for legislation in this respect. The jury, after a short retirement, brought in n verdict that deceased was accidentally burned to death, but that there was no evidence to show how the fire ignited. The jury also desired the Coroner to make iepresputitions to the Government pointing out the necessity for regulations re the licensing and construction of private hospitals. The juiy also added that having heard the evidence and inspected a " Perfection " heater they are satisfied that no explosion took place. A further rccommendatioi' w:is ma le jioi.iting out tliat public security from fire was lessened by different sized hydrants in use in the city and adjoining boroughs, b.-sides inadequate water supply.
