I.—THE FINANCIAL POSITION, Tlui income from the Hoard's Endowments is fully absorbed in maintaining the 80 eliildreu in tile Homo. The numbers have increased 31st March, 1005, by 28, and for the current year, owing to such increase, the Hoard anticipates a debit balance of expenditure over receipts. This will, of course, be increased by the expenses inevitably attendant upon tho (ire. .To take any considerable sum from the Capital for building purposes would very seriously hamper the work of the Home, and prejudice the well-being of the children. The New liuikliiig Fund Account now stands at £lllO. The insurance on tho Building destroyed is £1250. Amount available is £2i!fio. Hough estimate of amount stil. required for liuilditg i.s £IO4O The Home has not received anj Government subsidy for the lasl twenty years. It has been already stated that th lionid had begun to form a Huildin Fund. Had it proved necessary t make a Public Appeal, in the future for that fund, the amount asked for would have been comparitively small. NOW THERE IS NO ALTERNANATIVE : THE APPEAL HAS TO GO FORTH TO-DAY FOR AT LEAST £ 5000(|
