As the technical classes in New Plymonth and Stratford, and the classes for teneheis, close before the next meeting, and as some of the instructors desire to get away for their holidays, the li:sp.-ct,or recommended the Board to favourably consider theqnesti'in of paying the. instructors, on the (.'liairinan's authority, the accounts to I o submitted at the next meeting of the lioard. Mr !■ pencer further repoited that Mr Hogben, Inspector Cetieral of Schools, visited New Plymouth last week, and went into the" question of the technical school for New Plymouth and other matters. He also delivered a lecture 011 11 Technical Education " to 1111 appreciative audience. DEPUTATION TO THE PIIEMIEIt The Chairman of the Hoard reported that, in accordance with the surges* tion of the Mayor that, it would be advisable to wait 011 Mr Seddon whilst he was in New Pljunntli with refer--0 kc to the technical school, the following gentlemen were invited to attend : T,ie Mayors of Inglewood and A'aitura, the Chairmen of the Taranaki anil Clifton County Councils, and the Chairman of the High School Board. The deputation was inlro'ucod by Mr E. M. Smith. The plans as approved by the Jloaitt" wore submitted, and it, was strongly urged by the deputation that they be carried out in their entirety. Mr Sedi'on, in reply, said that he would consider the matter, but he could not be expected to go about dropping such sums as £BOOO here and there, and leaving a mark behind him immediately preceding the election. " I don't do anything of the kind'" lie remarked. He would have to get a leportby the Inspector-General and .-ee whether it was justified. Parliament only allowed a certain vote for ti clinical education, and it had to be equitably divided. 1 n allocating tinvote he would endeavour to do justice lo New Plymouth, as well as elsewhere in the colony.
