The Works Committee's report (already published) was-adopted. The Finance Committee reported recommending, approval of the.draft debenture for the t7oiltl lean ; aiso progress payments to contractu**.— Adopted. The Electric l,if,ht Committee reported recommending that, Messrs Hill! and Lepper be informed tha Coineil cannot see its way to erect an arc lamp at the corner of Hobson and' (,'ourtcnay Streets ; that the charge for elecieic power be 2d per unit, with a discount of Id if paid before th" 25bh' of lite month ; that the committee be empowered to supply by contract where a meter is not desired ; that Mr Messmger's letter re private lighting be referred lo the cluirical eng n:er. A recommendation by the Abattoir Committee to call for tenders for grubbing half of the furze on the reserve was adopted. A telegram from the Agricultural Department was. read re killing fees at, the abattoirs.—Referred to the committee with power to act. Inspector Kendall reported the result of his inquiries as to the owners «f properties adjoining the Central I' liv Static,ll contributing towards a .joint drain.—Kofernd to Works Committee.
On the million „f Cr. Collis seconded by Cr. Tiscb, it was decided that on Mr Newman conti ibuting £2 towards the work, the engineer be authorised to expend not exceeding .i's cn removing sand from she Paths cu Victoria Ksplanade.
