The weather was line, with a breeze for the opening day of the Australasian Ajmateur Athletic Association champiionship meeting, nily a sprinkling of spectators being present Results- :-

Mile, Walk Championship—Pomeroy, New South Wales, 1 ; Sn.nneman, Victoria, 2 ; Ross, New Zealand, 3. Poniciuy hail the advantage from the start, and won by 30 yards. Time, (imin dsscc. Harrop, Victoria, finished second, but was disqualified. Mile Flat Chanvpionsnip.—Whealley, Victoria, 1 ; Burk, New Zealand, 2 ; Steel, Victoria 3. The race culminated in a fine struggle between Wheatley and Burk, the former crossing the line, with a couple of feet advantage. Time, lmin 23scc, which constitutes a record for New South Vt ales running. High Jump.—Frawley, Queensland, and Welch, New South Wales, tied at, sft/ GAin. The tie will 1;? decided on Monday.
