The chair was taken by the Mayor. The speaker also briefly touched on several other subjects, being very severe on the matter of favouritism by the Ministry in dealing with provincial grants. The chairman declined to put, the proposition, as Ihe meeting was Mr Leech's and not Mr Jennings. After another brief silence another of the audience lose and proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Jennings for his address. This was received with applause awl laughter, joined in by llie proposer, who then com cloil -himself, and proposed a hearty vole of thanks to Mr Leech, some dozen tends being held up. A vote, of thanks to the chair brought a very cold meeting to a close.
