Mil JELLICOE CALLED TO ORDER HE RETIRES FROM THE CASE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 25. At the Audit Commission, Mr R. J. Collins, assistant secretary to the Treasury, said lie had searched all the votes out of which it was pos-i siblo Captain Seddon could have been paid for the rc-organisation of Defence stoics, or for any other purpose, but had found no trace of such a payment. It was absolutely impossible that such a cheque could have been paid without a record appearing in the* Department's books. Witness was cross-examined by Mr Jellicoe at great length about the minutiae of Departmental prcceedure, and the latter was repeatedly called to order by the Bench, who considend that be was deliberately wasting the time of the Court and endeavouring to cloud the issueAt lust, aftf-c a heated controversy, Mr Jellicoe sasl' he desired to say that lie would take no further part in tlic proceedings, as no good purpose could be served by doing so. Justice Edwards ; It, remains to k' seen whether MV Fisher is responsible for the gross and improper waste of time this Court has been subjected to."
The Commission' adjourned until text morning.
