Best, occupier of -the adjoining* section, at a rental of seven shillirrgs per acre per annum, five from taxes and charges of all kinds to the Hoard, which will be -<. nipowered to resume possession of one or more* acres of tlie .site at. any time if required for the erection of a Iscl'jool house. K. Spencer) repor-ted favourably on the application for -increased accommodation at the I'renui School. The room, at 12 feet of space per pupil, woul-d accommodate f>(V pupils, and at JO feet (ifi pupils. 'Pile roll last quarter was X'.l, withlan average of 71.'1. 'l'lve inspector recommended an additional room to lie built. He was sat-islied that an assistant would be permantly required, as the maintenance of the attendance was apparently assured. 'Pile Hoard decided to make applications to the Department for a grant for the additions. —l'riti Valley; School.—

I, afterf which the new] scale will be enforced. —Teachers' Residences.— The Committee wrote Avi'th reference /1 o obta'ing' a grant for a teacher's residence at Makahu. In., reply to the Hoard's 'imfuiry, the Depart nirnl. - wrote, 'by direction of the; Minister, that no grant for teachers' residences can 'bo made if it be reasonably possible for n teaehor to rent -a house or to obtain suitable residential acconmio-dat ion otherwise.
