WATCHING HOTELS AT WELLINGTON
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 10. On Saturday, 30th September, the Council of the Churches set a watch on lifty-onc hotels in the city from i) p.m. to 10.15 p.m., in order to ascertain the number of customer of the hotels between the hours mentioned. Only those who came out of the hotels were counted. It is stated that 7335 men and 101 women eu.erged. Of this total 418 were reported to be manifestly under the influence of liquor, and «7 were described as drunk.
