Jt was also resolved : That this meeting earnestly appeals to patriotic New Zealand citizens and farmers to nationise and buy articles made in the colony in preference to imported goods, and is of opinion that legislation should be introduced to encourage goods being manufactured in the colony. \V. H. Uttley was appointed to represent Otago to proceed with the deputation from t'hristchurch to Wellington. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 7. The Government has decided to summon at once a conference of New Zealand employers and employees to discuss all rjuostions relating to trade conditions in the colony. Invitations arc to be sent to all employers, federation*, farmers' unions, and trades and labour councils, to send two delegates each. The cost of travelling expenses will bo paid by the Government, and the conference will assemble in about ten days. The main reason of this action is the menace to colonial industry of the Harvester Trust, but other labour matters will probably be discussed.
