In the evening a deputation of dentists waited on the Premier to protest against giving consideration to dental practitioners other than thosd qualified by examination. The deputation considered it presumptions oi such practitioners to ask to be put on the Register. Tile Premier said a petition was at present before Hie Petitions Committee, and the matter was therefore, sub jud'ice. He did not think an alteration of the Act in the direction feared by the deputation was likely. The Government, would discharge its rcsponsii:Jilily, and the lights of legitimate practitioners would be preserved,. A deputation from the Trades anil Labour Council called to congratulate! the Premier on establishing the Maternity Home and debarring -medical 1 students from attending. They also referred to securing a section for workers' homes near Duuedin, but strongly objected to giving the ircellOW.

The Premier said th? St. Helens Maternity Hospital was not, in any sense a charitable institution, and medical students would bo as much out of place, there as in private houses or private hospitals.
