M. tic Witte, in an interview, said Russia Was very grateful for Germany's kindly attitude in the war, ami therefore the Russo-German rapprochement was natural, especially as the attitude of a portion of the French public during the war impressed Russia disagreeably. Nevertheless the Franco-Russian alliance was unaffected, though Russo-Gcrniair sympathies were strengthened.
