GOLF.
(Per Press Association, AUCKLAND, Sept. 21. The New Zealand golf tournament, which was opened on Tuesday, was continued to-day, although the weather was somewhat cold and one or two showers fell during the afternoon. There was a large attendance of spectators, and the course was in very fair order. The only event of the afternoon was the playing oil of the semi-finals for the amateur championship. J. C. Burns (Auckland chain Dion) met A. Duncan (New Zealand champion for three years in succession), and A. Fisher (last year's Ncw Zealand champion) met K. Duncan. Great interest- was manifested in the matches, which were keenly and evenly contested throughout. Alter a hard fought game A. Duncan defeated Buras, at the 16th hole, by 1 up and 3 to play ; K. Duncan beat Fisher by one up at the 18th hole. The winners of tiie semifinals arc brothers, and are members of the Wellington Golf Club.
