Lord l.omlondesi y, speaking al Sttckton-on-Tces, said it was thought the Opposition claimed that the Covcrnmenl should have resigned wl>.-n defeated in Committee of Supply, but Ministers felt that, apart from the absence of a precedent for resigning under such circumstances, their duty was to remain in office until the An-glo-Japanese treaty was .signed, and Ihe Aliens and Scottish Church Bills passed.
