Votes for the State Forest Department, Government Printing Office, M«W Hospitals and Charitable Department were passed unaltered. The Defence Department estimates gave rise to «. lengthy discussion; Mr Seddon, dealing with harbour defences, said that in view of the hmg range of guns they'had to improve the existing armaments, which would be done at Auckland ami Wellington.
