Iho total appropriations for raiK ways (including several not mentioned above) amount to £860,500 an amount considerably in excess of last year's vote. ROADS AND BRIDGES. The net expenditure on road works last year was 253,972, but thero ivrcre outstanding liabilities amounting to £72,775 in rcspeot bf work done. EXPENDIIIURB ON TARANAKI ROADS.. The total expenditure on road and bridge construction in Taranakd last year was £15,290, ol which £3402 was on the Ohura Road, £987 on tho Mangwhu Road, £9BB on %j Mimi-Mokau Road, £574 OH 4n« Otareoa Road. Tho remainder consists of smaller sums (or roads and bridges in various parts of tho dis-> trict. For maintenance of roade £563 wont, to tl» MokauTlrlti Road, and £2927 to the Ohur« I Road (south of Taorao stream).
