Revolting Murder.
COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER BATTERED TO DEATH.; JPERTH, Aug. 31. Frecdman & Co., Perth, wholesale merchants, had been murdered last night. A const a-. Wo and several other whiles heard cries from the mangroves on shore, . tut as such cries arc not uncommon In Broome when seamen are being taken aboard the luggers after the - hotels are closed, they took no notico at the time, A little before 11 J>.m., however, three whites opthe spot, and saw men push off in a dingey and make for the lugger Rose, belonging to Yco Ah Cham. The men in the boat were bailed by the whites on shore, but they refused to return, ami as the XHe was running out fast the whites let them'go* This norning a colourfid seaman discovered Liebjjlid's dead Wttdy floating ip the sen near the spot whence the cries heard last night proceeded. The head was fearfully mangled. The police discovered £451 on the tody, and £6O in Lie%lid's handbag on shore. They subsequently found that the dingey belonging to the lugger Rose was brought ashore and thoroughly scrubbed before seven o'clock this morning, by the Malay crew. A constable arrested four Malays from the lugger.
