(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 9.
This morning Messrs Willia, West, Laicombe and Lundon, the four Christchurch post office officials who have figured prominently in the voucher case, (Were formally suspended by the Chief Postmaster until further notice.
A letter from the Secretary to tlic Post and Telegraph Department was minded to Willis, charging him with laving! commit ted certain breaches of duty by searching the records ami giving Mr F. M. B. Fisher, M.H.R., the number and amount of voucher 1518!) ; informing Mr Fisher that a voucher for an amount exceeding £7u iiad passed through the Christchurcii post office payable to R. J. S. Beddon for re-organising the defence stores ; delivering to Mr Fisher an affidavit that lie, Willis, saw such a voucher ■; giving to T. K. Taylor, M.H.R., a duplicate of the original of such affidavit, and sending, witM the other three, tie following telegram to Mr Taylor: "We are confident. that an unrestricted public inquiry will establish the,charge, and hope you will pass your motion." Willis is required to plead to the charges, and is givep till Sept. 13 to make any written defence. West has received a similar letter with the omission of the first charge. Larcombe has received a similar letter, with tlvo additional charge tliat he informed another person that a voucher had passed through the Uiristchurch post office. Lundon was charged only with sending the telegram.
