BEEF SifcUISTS PROSECUTED FORI WEIRD PRACTICES. NEW YORK, Aug. 25 Dr. 11. H. A terrifying report is made by Hvo State analysts upon samples of meat supplied by the Trust. They state that in some instances the meal was dipped in the sante solution of formaldehyde fls is usid for embalming d-cad bodies. Point is giwn to this discovery by the complaints which it is now remembered that (Jeneral Miles made, when hci was commander-in-chief, that the soldiers in Cuha and the Philippines wen: supplii.fl■ with embalmed beef. JUany other unwholesome preserva tikes are alleged by the analysts U be used by the Trust. They state that the beef is dusted with a powder containing sulphites and washed m boracic acid solution to such an extent as to form an irritant poison.
As if these weird processes were not enough, the meat is coloured to make it attractive looking. It is steeped in a poisonous cortl-lav dye until each pound weight has absorbed suttieient colour, says the analysts. to turn a white shirt a brilliant crimson.
