BEEF SifcUISTS PROSECUTED FORI WEIRD PRACTICES. NEW YORK, Aug. 25 Dr. 11. H. As if these weird processes were not enough, the meat is coloured to make it attractive looking. It is steeped in a poisonous cortl-lav dye until each pound weight has absorbed suttieient colour, says the analysts. to turn a white shirt a brilliant crimson.
