PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr B. Royle (box 395, G.P.O..Wellington), New Zealand rearesentative of Mr J. C. Williamson, is receiving contributions to a souvenir to be handed to Mrs Hughes, widow of the late Mr Pete Hughes. Mrs Hughes leaves Australia on Monday for San Francinco.
Nearly thirty members of the railway staff assembled at the Criterion Hotel on Wednesday evening, in order to give tangible form to their good wishes to Mr E. G. Cox, on the eve of his marriage. On Ibehalf of the staff, Mr L. Pepperill presented Mr Cox with a handsome marble clock, expressing in a few words the esteemin which Mr Cox is held by his fellow employees. Messrs Smith, Barnes, Pratt and Hoskin also gave expression to good wishes towards Mr Cox and his future wife, and after the health o! the -happy couple had been drunk, and a few songs sung, a most pleasant evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the giving of three cheers for Mr and Mrs Cox.
