Funeral of the late Dean Hovell

I Whole Countryside Mourning. (Per Press Association.) NAPIEIi, Sept. 7. The iuneral of the late Very Kev. Dean ilovell took place this afternoon. Tho various places of lousiness and the hotels were closed, ami the Supremo Court sitting was ad-* I jouriied to permit the Chief Justice and others to -attend. The Horough Council, Education Board, ami other public bodies attended in full force. The Dean having been chaplain of the East Coast Uattalion and of the Masonic Lodge, the funeral was both of a military and Mason-: ic character. The funeral cortege was the largest ever seen in Napier, and tho very targe crowd of to\vi» and country people who were present to poiy t'hqir lapt tribute of respect to the deceased clergyman showed how deeply he had endeared himself to people of all shades of religious opinion. Messages of sympathy were sent from all parts of the, colony, including one from the Pre-, mfcr.
