NEW PLYMOUTH BOWLING CLUB.

The appointments at tho" green of this popular club have been brought .up-to-date in every respect by the additions made to the pavilion to ivards the end of last season, and the club is now/ justly entitled to t,ake rank as one of the best equipped in the colony. The erection of tho second storey provides for a fine club room 40ft by 15ft in dimensions, opening on to a spacious balcony, which directly overlooks the green, tho cost of the work being about £3OO. For the remainder of last season the new club room was not availed of, but it has now been finished for use. Tho walls are arrayed with a fine colleceion of photographs of interest iu the history of the club for the last twenty years including single and group portraitures of the leading players and oil!cials for many years past, and views of many of the tournaments, IJng. lish and Australian, as well as 10-j cal. These recall many reminiscences, and tire collection is much ap-1 predated by the members. I

Tho new club room was in practical use for the first time on Wed nesday evening, when members held an enjoyable card party. It is intended to organise a series of these social gatherings, and for the next evening tho lady friends will be invited to participate in a bridge tournament.

The official opening of the new premises will take place at the general meeting of members, to be held in two or three weeks' time, nnd ths bowling season will be initiated early in October. The caretaker (Mr A, AldWdgc) deserves all credit for tho perfect condition in which he has tho green.
