WILLIS' BOXES OPENED,
Documents Impounded.
Where Are The Books?
(Received Aug. 25, 11.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 25
Mrs Willis' box, in charge ot two detectives, was produced at the Lands Commission, after strong protests by Airs Willis and her solicitor against private papers being overhauled auil opened before the Commission. The box was found to contain a quantity of jewellery and plate, and a number of documents. The box, with the jewellery and plate, were handed back to Mrs Willis, but (he Commissioner impounded the documents, which will be privately perused. It is expected the books relating to Mrs Willis' business will not be ! found.
I McXair and Hoskins, when examinI ed, stated they were unable to throw light on the disappearance of the books, though the accountant at the Safe Deposit deposed that the box was much lighter after they and. Mrs Willis had it open just before Willis left Sydneyj
Willis' box was subsequently brought from the Safe Deposit, It contained only heirlooms in the shape ot a sovereign and a brooch.
There was considerable excitement |in Court while the opening was proceeding.
