His Work Eulogised. (Pel PrteS Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25. Mr George Jjatnbie, for seventeen years manager of the Union SteamShip Company hero, was, on the occasion of his retirement, presented, at the annuai meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, with a purse,of sovereigns. Eulogistic references w;ere made to Mr Lpmbie'a work, the Chairman (Mr A. L. Parsons) saying thatl his retirement! uvea lit a loss to the community 0 f very capable, a highly efficient, and an extremely popular officer.
