BOOKMAKERS FINED FOR TRESPASS.

(Per PriH Aseociitiei.) CHRISTCHUROH, Aug. 22. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Matthew Barnelt was fined £5 for having trespassed on the Ricearton racecourse on April 24, and for neglecting to leave alter being warned. On a similar charge T t Godfrey was fined £5. A. Hunt, G z Bitehfield, W. Scott, F, Clarke and W» Livingstone were each fined £2 for similar offences at Plumpton Park on June 10. ff. J. Black was fined £5.

Cases against two other men were dismissed, as they were acting as clerks to (bookmakers, and the regulations do not rfcfer to persons so acting.
