This amount included some native 'lands which came under the definition ol ratable property in the Hating Act Ihe amount given by the Egmont bounty Council was: no doubt the amoui/t on which .they had so fur bti'n able to collect rates. It was decided to adhere to the Valuation Department's figures. —Price of Gas.—

Tfie secretary of the Gas Company intimated that the directors had agreed to reduoe the price of gas to the Hoard t;a 6s 8d per 1000 ft provided that tho amounts were paid by the 25th of the month. —lioatfl Adjustments.— The Stratford Board forwarded a cheque for £49 19s 6d in payment of account for charitable aid patients attending the Xew Plymouth Home ri'lim the Stratford district. Receipt, of the Taranaki Board's cheque lor £Bl5, the amount of the award made to Stratford by .the Controller UenCrnl, was acknowledged. —Fire Appliances.—

Captain Bellrsnger, of tho local J' iro Brigade, submitted 0 report of the inspection made by him, in Company with the Chhinnan and) Secretary of flu; Board, of (he tire extinguishing appliances at the hospital buiidinlgs. "I find," he stated, "that practically there is no plant lit for use in case of lire. 1 consider it necessary that the Board sihouldi at once procure 400 ft of ca-nvas host l , with the Couplings anA branches, and one single-headed hydrant.
