PERSONAL NOTES.
Lord Plunket, accompanied by tho Hon. Kathleen Plunket and Captain Braithwattc, A.D.C., lefttfor Oliristchurch on Friday to attend tlio Ohristchurch Jockey Club's Grand National Meeting. A large gathering of hockey enthusiasts and others assembled in the Imperial Hotel on Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr F. H. Robertson, a member ol the New Plymouth Hockey Club, who is leaving the district. After the health of the King had been loyally honoured, ttic Chairman (Mr W. H. Broome) proposed that of the guest o( the evening, expressing the wish of all hia friends that Mr Robertson's future may be bright and prosperous. On beiialf of members of; the, Hockey CIA he handed Mr Robertson a set of military brushes, suitably engraved. Mr Robertson, in his reply, expressed pleasure at seeing his efforts on behalf of tfie club had met with the approval of the.members. Other toasts ' were then honoured, including: "New Plymouth Hoekoy Club," proposed by Mr Robertson and responded to by the Chairman ; "New Plymouth Hockey Association," proposed (oy Mr Clraword, Mr W, Lints replying i Kindred Sports," proposed by the Chairman and responded to by Mcs-* isrs A. Ford and W. Pen-in ; "New Plymouth Swimming Cluh," propos,ed by Mr Robertson, replied toby Mr, W. Lints ;• "Taranaki Rugby Union " iproupsed by Mr WoodhouV, responded toby Mr J. W. Frascr, who also replied on hebalf of the ladies to a toast given by Mr A. Ford ;Mr J .Smith replied to that ofi"Host and Hostess proposed by Mr D. Day During the evening songs were sung by Messrs WowftouM, Fruser, Cutfield and Day,
