The cows were a very nice lot in good condition and mostly early calvers. Bidding was brisk from start to finish and excellent prices were realised for both live;stock and) implement. During the week the joint sale of household furniture of the late MrsSmall and Mrs Blackwood was held at the residence of the late Mrs Small. There was a very large attendance; bidding was Tery brisk, and everything changed hands very satisfactorily. , Fruity—ss, ton. case. Land sales.—Mr A. R. Davies' Beach Farm at Pukearuhe of 410 acres to Mr J. J. Elwin, jnr. ; also Mr Edward Wells' farm of 170 acres, Oarringtwn RoaiL to a local buyer, ; also Mr A,. New season's lambs.—About twenty were offered, sonic of which were, howeu-r, late hoggets, and they were oi various sizes. 'I he qualil} was not so good as in some loimer years. The young) lambs sold at 125.8 dto ttis, and older sorts 10 19s. J Fat hoggets.—There was a larger entry than the previous week, and the quality was also 'jetler. Kal sheep —There was a fairly heavy yarding, including seme special of heavy, and' some .try prime lines of freezing wethers and nieriuos, the quality oi the whole yarding being much auove the average. The export Uiycrs operated more freely than for some time past and trad much bclrter lines than usual offered them. There was a good demand to the end of the sale for all clashes of butchers' sheep, the number of lines taken for freezing having relieved the market of any over-supply. Several pens of prize sheep were amongst those offered, and these brought good prices. One pen of Tery fine Shropshire wcthere !«xight at 35s 6d are to be sent to l/mdos. Rang* of prices—Extra) prime wethers 28s to 85s 6d, prime 13s H to 27b 6d, others 18s 6d ts 23s ; prime ewes 20s to 225, medium 17s 6d to 19s 6d, aged 15s to 17s ; extra prime merino wethers to 255, prune 19s to 215.6 d, others* 15s I4j.d to 18s.

Fat oattle.-The entry totalled 231 and there were several prime station lines offered, but a considerable portion ol the other entries was not well finished, so that the quality, ranged from inferior to extra prime, rhere was a very good demand) throughout, though, except for West, the prices were not quite,so firm as last week. Among the sales were nine steers from W. O. Rutherford,, (Montrase) at £8 15s to £l4 10s, one Hereford steer from W. Birdling 'Port Levy) at £l3, five steers from '•.■hatmoss at £9 15s to £lO 7s 6d, sixteen steers from Hawkswood at £8 to £9 15s ; other steers brought £9 7s Gd to £ll 5s ; heifers, £5 is to £7 12s 6d, and cows £5 to£9, equal to 22s fd to 25s for choice,! iOs to 22s for prime, and 17b Qd to 19s 6d for cow and.inferior beef per 100 ft. A large yarding of veal calves sold it 7s 6d to £3. Store and dairy cattle.—There was a small, mixed entry, and but little demand was shown. Sales were effected at £7 10s to £9 15s, and others at £4 to £7. Pigs.—There was a fairly large yarding, and a better demand was shown for fats than last week, though prices did not improve much. Baconers made 35s to 475, equal to ?}d to 3Jd per lb ; porkers 22s to 30s, equal t» Id to 4Jd per lb ; large stores 17s Cd to 225, medium 12s 6d to 17s, weaners 8s to Ids 6d..

Wheat.—Despite sensational report* of damage to the crops in Russia and America, the European markets arc quiet, and have rather an easier tendency. French harvesting is favourable. Cargoes are dull, those off the coast being a shade firmer. Two cargoes sold at 325. Buyers are now offering 32s 3d for August and September shipments, Australian, spoti in small supply, 33s <M to 345. The American visible supply is 22,312,000 bushels.

Flour is dull. Patents arc quoted at: London 33s 6H, Glasgow 24s W |to 255.

Butter.—Firm and unchanged. Salt less Canadian 108s to 110s. METALS,
