The following ties were played off in the first round of the Championship : Weston, W.C., 4 up and 2 to play v. Johns ; Scott, lup v, Bewlcy. Considerable interest is being taken in the "mixed foursomes to be played to-day for Mr Hood's ijrize. Forty players have entered.
