0 A civil sit/ting of the Court was held oa Friday before Mr Hutchison, S.M. Judgment by default was entered in the following cases :—James IV. Harding (Mr Quilliam) v. Robert Wright, claim £23 10s, costs £2 lis (kl ; New Plymouth Harbour Board (Mr Quilliam) v. Catherine Bolger, claim-13s, costs ss. In • the case of G. W. Henderson v. Henry F. Cailaghan, a claim lor £33 15s in connection with the rental lease, the Magistrate gave his reserved decision .entering judgment for the plairttifl for the amount claimed, with £1 10s costs. Costs were allowed defendant for the lirst adjournment. Mr C. H. Weston appeared for tlic plaintiff, and Mr Quilliam for the defendant. The following cases were adjourned to August 11 :—Robert H. Cameron v. Wm. G. Knyvctt, contractor, claim for £75 in connection with the royalty of 3000 yards of boulders takiii, under agreement, by tire defendant from the plaintiffs land a ; t Waiwakaiho ; Cameron and Brooking, contractors, Stratford, v. William O. Knyvctt claim for £3l 5s for the hire of a stone crusher ; William 6. Knyvctt v. John Hayes, claim £73 lis Jbalancc for hire of teams of horses and bullocks, goods sold and delivered and money paid. Defendant counterclaims lor £SB 0s 3d, which deducting £55 6s 8d credited to the plaintiff, leaves a net balance of £2 13s 7d, which he claims. Mr Quilliam appears for Mr Knyvctt, ami Mr Malone for llie other parties. •William Francis Grecnaway and George Cliff v. Joseph West, claim for £SO damages. In this case the defendant was the tenant of 37 acres of land known as Cliff's farm in the Paritutu district'. Under the terms of the agreement for a monthly tenancy the defendant agreed to keep the 'buildings, fences, etc., in good repair. Plaintiffs claim that the defendant failed to keep in good condition the fences enclosing the orchard 'belonging to the said lands, in consequence of which it is alleged the defendant's cattle 'broke into the orchard and damaged the fruit fjges. The plaintiffs' case was partly heard, and the further hearing adjourned io Monday morning, costs being allowed the defendant. Mr Anderson (Messrs Malone, McVcagh and Anderson) appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr Grey for the deforciant. The claim of Robert Coleman v. A. W. Woods and other members of the exhibition committee, for £67, balance due for rent of, and for materials supplied and work done in connection with U|e ]sxhibitj»|i buildings, and £25 return of deposit, was hot proceeded with, it befog proposed to submit the items to arbitration. The case was struck out with costs to the defendants. Mr Anderson appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Quilliam for the defendants. Boon Bros. v. Watt and Lemion claim for £l7 2s (id for good supplied and work done.
