Frankley Road Board.
A meeting of the Frunklev Hoad Board was held at the ofiice" of the Secretary (Mr M. Fleetwood) on Saturday. There were present !Stes.srs H. Okey (Chairman), Abbott, Allen, Hilling, -and Newell. The uction of the committee in accepting the tender of Mr A- A. Pjkett for the quarrying and breaking of 800 Jards of stone, at 4s 6d per yard, was confirmed. It was agrceil to increase the contract,-, to 300 yard*! , also to accept Mr l'ikeU's offer for carting material on to the road three miles the i ot|ncr side of fhe quarry. A letter was received from Mr Frost with reference to metalling tfcj road between iljoad and Elliot lload. The Hoard could not see its way to metal the fowl, 'll'it agreed to grant a subsidy cl £2, ami allow the. necessary gravel to be taken from the llawkos Ilill (piarry free ol royalty, provided the work was carried out during the summer to the Hoard's Satisfaction, ifessrs Govett and Quilliam, solicitors, wrote on behalf of Mr Frost, with reference to water running from, tho road on to his property, and damaging an ensilage pit. It was stated in discussion th'at the locality referred to hud been the. natural -watercourse for many years. It was also pointed out that the Konrd was not to blame if Mr Frost put his ensilage pit in such n position, awl that he pould alter the watercourse without ap peiili.ng to the Hoard. The secretary was instructed to reply in these txTms. TlVe Chairman gave notice | that at the next meeting he would I move that a rate 'of one penny in the £ be struck, including loan and general.
